Suspension Upgrade

Thinking about doing a suspension upgrade. The two choices I’m entertaining at the moment are the Morride Independent with disc brakes or the Roadmaster. Obviously the Morride is more $$.

Thoughts and comments?

Hey Jon - I just scheduled my installation for the MORryde IS for early January. They have a special going on where if you get the IS installed in Jan, Feb or March, you can also choose an additional product for free (Rubber Pin Box, Step Above steps, etc.)

I had been researching this upgrade for some time. I had wanted to get the IS installed by Vanleigh, but they didn’t offer that as an option when we ordered ours. We did have Vanleigh add the 8K axles and disc brake options on our order. I also looked at some of the upgraded MORryde traditional options like the CRE 3000/LRE 4000 and even the competing Roadmaster system. None of those options got rid of the springs & equalizer. The IS just seemed like a much better option for a longer term and better ride.

You’re right about the MORryde being more expensive, but I was able to save some by already having disc brakes installed and they’ll re-use those when they install the IS. The cost will around $6-7K, but I think it’ll be well worth it and perform a lot better than the spring & equalizer systems.

Jon if I recall you have a 23 unit? From my personal experience I tell people to ride out their frame warranty before making any changes to your suspension. Lippert states that any alteration for the OEM configuration (outside of some of their own approved products) voids the frame warranty. There is some factors with that statement - if your frame issue occurs at the gooseneck that likely won’t pinpoint your suspension as the issue but you are a bit at their mercy.

We had Morryde IS put on our unit and in turn voided our frame warranty. I knew this was the case going in but wanted the suspension as I felt my unit was getting tore up from the highways. We later had frame issues and the $15k for repairs was coming out of our pocket. Lippert stated on their paperwork my issue was directly caused by Morryde.

With all that being said I cannot give my experience with Roadmaster outside of I have had several friends use it and speak about it with high regard. The last time I spoke with a shop about the install it they were charging mid $2k range and to me that puts it closer to Morryde IS.

Outside of my warranty experience with Morryde they do have a great product. You get about 2 1/2 inches of travel with standard suspension and with IS about 5 inches and of course as the name implies independent suspension. Their unit is solid and is now bolted on to the shackles where in the past it was welded on to a riser on the frame.

Thanks, warranty is a consideration.

As recommended by Ryan, we are waiting out the warranty time on our ‘23 41LKB. We will look to get the IS installed after that.
