Hey Guys I’m going to be installing a Seelevel tank monitor system. Does anyone know if the 9 lnch sensor is tall enough for our tanks or should I get the 12 inch sensors?
Thanks
Ralph
The gray and black tanks are tapered being 8" on the sensor side and 6" on the back side. I had already purchased the 12" sensors and cut them down per installation instructions. The 9" should be more than sufficient for gray and black.
I installed mine 3 years ago so I cant recall the dimensions of the fresh tank however I know it seemed to be right at that 9" mark. I know Stuart and pretty I believe Eric recently installed their sensors so hopefully they chime in.
Just a comment about the displays; I believe I have a post in the group about my installation. I installed a display in the wet bay and one in the bathroom. The bathroom display is a RVC unit and plugged into the Spyder RSi-9 board. I worked with Spyder to have the tank sensors on the Spyder display read what See level was providing.
Thanks Ryan, that helps a lot. I hope to do the project soon and wanted to see what you guys said. That’s a good looking mount in the wet bay, I like that. I like the Bluetooth capability too. I don’t think I will try to use the spyder system display.
Thanks
Ralph
I still have the SeeLevel install on the to do list. I’m planning a setup similar to Ryan with integration into the Spyder display.
Ryan, I like the standoff mount you have in the wet bay. Was that from SeeLevel or did you get it somewhere else?
I didn’t want to cut a large hole for the monitor into the wet bay to accomplish a flush mount. The monitor has an extension piece on the back to protect the circuitry and then the pigtail extends past that. I instead opted to drill a small round hole for the wire loom to fit through and then raising the monitor with a small sealed wood frame. My intention was to replace the frame with a 3D printed frame when I was back at “home base” but it worked well enough that it has stayed the way it is.
Ralph I do like the bluetooth and in the end there are many ways to check on my tanks. Spyder screen, Eclipse app (which displays Spyder panel), Garnet app for SeeLevel, monitor in the wetbay and monitor in the bathroom. I had been prepared to tie the Seelevel into my Cerbo but this was mainly for historical data in VRM ( I nerd out on data).
This is a picture of the monitor and you can see the components on the back side. I tried to be the least intrusive but if you don’t mind cutting the hole no need for the frame.
So Ryan you made the frame for the display, you made it look very good in the photo. Do you want to make another??
Thanks for the inspiration and the information.
Thanks Ralph
I second Ralph’s ask about making another, it looks great and serves the purpose! LOL
