Sanitizing Water tank trouble

Having trouble drawing sanitizing solution into tank. My unit has the 8 position Anderson valve. I follow instructions with left valve on tank fill and right valve on sanitize. I turn pump on and it doesn’t draw. I can turn left knob to winterize and right to normal or bypass and it draws with pump on but probably not going to tank.

Any suggestions.

When I sanitize and want to include the fresh water tank, I’ll place the sanitizing agent in the hose and then use the standard tank power fill positions. That directs the sanitizing solution into the fresh tank and you can distribute the water from the tank to the interior lines using the on board pump.

I’ve used this setup for including the fresh tank.
CITY FILL TANK – TO FILL STORAGE TANK FROM PRESSURIZED CITY WATER

Here’s a couple of diagrams that might help decode the valve positions (the labels are slightly different than Vanleigh used, but the positions are the same).:

SANITIZE /WINTERIZE- TO SANITIZE/ WINTERIZE FIXTURE (NOT TANK) FROM UNPRESSURIZED SOURCE

SANITIZE /WINTERIZE & SANITIZE TANK – TO SANITIZE FIXTURE AND TANK FROM UNPRESSSURIZED SOURCE (PUMP

This is the info from the Beacon owner’s manual-

SANITIZING THE FRESH WATER SYSTEM

Use the following procedures to sanitize your Fresh Water System when it is new, becomes contaminated, or has not been used for a period of time.

If you RV does not have a SANITIZE function, do the following steps to sanitize your fresh water system:

  1. Set your wet bay valves to NORMAL and TANK FILL.

NOTE: Don’t charge your water hose in the wet bay yet.

  1. Take your water filter housing off, take the filter out and fill the water filter with

cleaning solution (bleach or any sanitizing solution).

  1. Reattach the water filter housing.

  2. Charge the city water housing with your water hose.

NOTE: As an option, several commercial solutions are available, and should be used as directed on the package.

To sanitize the fresh water system:

  1. Level the RV.

  2. Drain fresh water system.

  3. Make sure the low point drain valves are closed.

  4. Connect a hose to the city water port.

  5. Put the other end of the hose into a container of sanitizing solution.

  6. Turn the selector valves to SANITIZE and TANK FILL.

  1. Turn on the water pump.

  2. Turn the selector valve to PUMP.

  3. Operate all faucets until the sanitizing fluid has come through, then Turn OFF the pump.

  4. Allow solution to stand for three (3) hours.

  5. DRAIN tank and FLUSH the system with fresh water.

I used the diagram with valves set on Sanitize and Winterize and it drew the solution just like it was supposed to. I had previously tried the Beacon settings according to the manual and could not get it to work. Not sure if they have a mis-print or I just wasn’t smart enough.

Anyway we got it working. Thank you for your assistance.

Good you got it working. The Vanleigh steps in the manual for this do seem to be confusing.
