Good day all I’ve replaced the outer skylight and am now looking to replace the inner one as pictured below. Would you know anywhere other than vanleigh with the part number thanks
Hi Tourusa,
I got my replacement skylight from Recpro
I only replaced the outer piece (14"x22") due to hail damage, but they also sell the inner trim rings. If yours is the same size as mine you could probably use this model 14 x 22 interior skylight trim
At least the interior piece is easier to replace than the exterior
Good luck.
Thanks
Stuart will use your measurements and reconfirm before ordering
I checked the measurements and ordered one from Recpro thanks as always
Hi there slight issue with the one I ordered it has a bubble in the middle and mine is sloped down one side, does anyone know where to get the correct one from see below
There certainly is a difference between the old and the new in your pics. I only replaced the outer piece on mine and never noticed the slight angle on the interior piece. I went and checked mine and it looks to have a similar angle to yours. Not sure why as the roof is flat on Vanleigh fifth wheels.
Does the new one fit in place of the old one without contacting the outer piece. If it does, then it still might work. If not maybe contacting RecPro for an exchange might be the option if they sell an angled style.
Weird I agree . I just spoke to the guys at tiffin who are always great and they gave me the below as they don’t stock anymore 14-22 grand design clear top white 177405 side angle . Rec-pro we’re good they refunded minus 10$ and I have a spare for someone else’s 5th wheel.
Let me know if you find anything Stewart as always appreciated your help there last 2 years
I tried searching various keywords from that quote but couldn’t find anything that looked the same as your inner skylight trim. Did Tiffin provide any more details or a proper part number or manufacturer maybe?
In general searching for RV skylights, I haven’t found any that show an angled inner trim piece. I checked mine it has a couple of spots where the screws attach that will probably need replacing. So I’d really like to find one too.
Hi Stuart I reached out to some more dealers and icon who make custom skylights and I may have to go to a max 3inch height across and not angled.
Will see what I can find with a 3 inch height
This is the closest I’ve found
I’ve just took a pause and am looking for one with a 2inch ceiling height which may work better than the 3 inch.,
This one below has a 2inch depth
Icon 12149 Skylight Inner Dome SL1422 for 22" x 14" x 2" Opening - Clear
I may have to go back and measure the ceiling depth as I’m looking at the existing and it’s 3 inch but if the one above from parts country doesn’t match my new external dome then I’m back to the start
Hi there I went to camping world with the icon brand low profile and hope the quality stands up to the heat
Icon Technologies Skylight Inner Dome, Low Profile, for SL1422
Will post pictures once fitted thanks all
I think I saw the Icon Direct products too. They looked decent, but seemed more expensive too. Curious to see the finished product once you get it installed.
Hi Stuart I agree around twice the price will post pictures next week, with me replacing the outer dome also with a newer model from tiffin due to cracking wasn’t sure of the 3inch ceiling thickness
Quick update this didn’t work either as the fit was too slim and I could see the wood inside the ceiling
The project has moved to a refresh stage with bondo white spray paint and new plexi glass / acrylic polycarbonate - Polycarbonate Clear Plastic Sheet 12" X 24" X 0.030" (1/32")
Will post the end product and finding the exact fit is proving impossible and tiffin doesn’t stock
Sounds like that is the best option given the difficulties in sourcing the inner trim piece with the right dimensions. Your original trim piece didn’t look in too bad shape from your pics. Still trying to work out why they had to use an angled inner trim piece having a flat roof LOL.
I double checked mine as I thought it had cracked, but that was one of the vent fan trim rings. But if I need to replace in the future, I’ll just refresh/repair as you’re doing.
Pretty much the best way, just happy got the outer shower one replaced prior to tiffin running out, I’m sure the upcoming trip will find a few
More things and will be in touch happy trails all
Quick update I replaced the yellow plexi glass from. A sheet from Lowe’s and used my dremel to cut to fit on the existing shower cover. May need to get better 3M tape in the next few months to hold down in the corners
