Hello everyone. Our 22 Beacon 42RDB is pre wired for back up camera. Before we purchase a camera system, we’d like to take a look at the actual wiring as I suspect that there will be just power wires and no video transmission wires. Does anyone know where we may find the terminal end of the wires?
The pre wire is the Furrion mount and just wired into the string of lights on the rear. Most often Vanleigh wires the power to the camera mount into the wiring for cap clearance lights.
Probably the worst picture I have posted but if you follow wires closely you can see. This is putting on my rear cap and was a screenshot from video.
To add to what Ryan shared. These camera ready setups only include the power connection tied to the running lights. The camera would connect wireless to the monitor/display you mount in your truck.
A lot of people just go with the Furrion wireless camera kit, but those can be pretty pricey IMO.
I had a good experience with a different manufacturer and went with Haloview for about half the cost of the Furrion kits. I purchased a Haloview MC7109 7’’ 720P HD Digital Wireless Rear View Camera System and also added a Haloview 2.4G Wireless 42ft Extension Antenna for Haloview Camera. I purchased the camera and monitor directly from Haloview wireless cameras and the extended antenna from Amazon.
I’ve been really pleased with the Haloview camera setup. It provides very clean video and after adding the antenna extender, no dropouts or stuttering video either. The system even allows for recording that video feed using an SD card in the monitor.
The camera pre wire is just below the rear running lights in the photo of my Beacon.
Now you know where the connection is and yes it is only power when the lights are on.
As for camera system, I was not pleased with the Furrion system because the rear camera was not very stable due to distance. I invested in the Haloview system and our first outing was without issues. The clarity was vastly superior to the Furrion system and stability of the rear camera was without question better.
After removing the mount, the only wire that was behind it is an RCA wire - a black one, no less. Now I’m completely befuddled.
I haven’t seen your other pictures yet, but I’m totally intrigued by the one you posted. Is that your actual rig? Did you work for Van Leigh, or did you custom order and VL let you to witness your build? My curiosity is maddening! But back to the reason for sharing - the wires are difficult to see in any detail. I’m wondering if you might have a wiring diagram or know where I may find one?

BTW - great name - I gave my second son the same. His initials are RPM (intentional).
Hey Thanks! I don’t meet a whole lot of Ryans and my parents often remind me that I was almost a Randy. Although tonight with the severe weather happening we have been streaming Ryan Hall Y’all. Excellent resource for severe weather outbreaks.
That picture was a screenshot I took from video still residing on my phone from the build of our unit. I did not work for VL- just a customer that had the opportunity to be onsite for our build. It has made us feel like we know our unit inside and out as we fully documented it through its steps. For sure has helped when we needed to troubleshoot to reference those images.
I can chase down a better video / pictures to demonstrate the Furrion prewire but there isnt much to the wiring. The cable that you found when you removed the mount / cover should be the Furrion power cable with a Furrion camera connection. I will post a picture of that cable. That cable is wired into the marker lights. My unit is a 21 model however I doubt they wired your 22 differently as they had a team on the side that prepped the rear caps.
We used the Furrion camera as we had it but as Stuart and Eric stated the Haloview offers a much better experience. Clarity and the recording functionality make it worth it. We used a Furrion camera on our previous 43ft toy hauler and had at time wireless connection issues. Same truck but with our 35ft Beacon we have not experienced those issues as often but they do occur.
You can contact Tiffin to get a wiring diagram if you are looking for something different or a diagram in general. They had been really open in the past to sharing any of those documents however in the last few years it did become more difficult to navigate the correct person to get those shared.
I am attaching three pictures; the Furrion power cable, a closer look at the end of the Furrion connection that sticks out of the bracket and finally (just for fun) a picture of our rear cap right before it was wired with our unit in the background.
