Hello All. First post for new to me Vanleigh RV. I just purchased a 20223 Ambition 399. Here is the valve layout for the water connections. The dealer was not that experienced with Tiffin products. Can anyone tell me correct valve positions to fill fresh tank to boondock as well as position for city water? The valves are not behaving like my last Fifth Wheels system. I have the on demand hot so also not sure about the bypass valve and there is no schematic in the wet bay. Thank you in advance!!
Hi Dave - Looks like Vanleigh changed the water manifold system from what we have in our Beacon. Looks quite a bit simpler valve wise too.

From your picture it looks like you have the water heater in bypass and the water inlet set to City. I’m not familiar with that style, but there’s only four combinations available.
For normal city or tank water with the water heater I’d set the valves as follows: Bypass turned to normal and water inlet turned to City. Which in your picture would only need the bypass valve turned to the right.
For power filling the fresh tank the bypass would stay at normal (only need to bypass the water heater when winterizing) and turn the water inlet valve to the left to what appears to be the Tank Fill position (can’t see the label as it’s obscured by the handle). Could you confirm the labeling on that valve?
Bypass valve - turn to the left to bypass the water heater, turn to the right allow water to enter the water heater.
Water inlet valve - Turn to the right to run off city water (possibly off the tank too), turn to the left to fill the tank.
I tried to find an Ambition specific or newer Beacon owners manual online, but didn’t have any luck. If you received a manual with your unit, that probably has more detailed info on the water manifold positions (in the Beacon manual it’s under the plumbing section around page 150).

Thank you so much. Turning to Bypass and then up to City allowed the tak to fill Definitely not logical but it worked:) Thanks again.
You’re welcome and glad you got the tank filled. Agreed the handle style and labeling leaves something to be desired. LOL
Not sure from your picture if those valve handles are turned all the way to right or left of the valve travel (assuming they only have 90* travel). For both valve handles if they are turned all the way to the right (clockwise) that would indicate to me “Normal” & “City”, if turned all the way to the left (counter clockwise) I’d say “Bypass” & “Tank Fill”.
I’m guessing the combinations would be something like:
- Normal + City - Regular use for city water or running off the fresh tank.
- Normal + Tank Fill - Power filling both the fresh and water heater tanks.
- Bypass + City - Bypassing the water heater and allowing for sanitizing the fresh tank and lines ??
- Bypass + Tank Fill - Bypassing the water heater and allowing pumping in antifreeze for winterizing.
