Has anyone had any experience with any UV wrap for the top 3 inch of there nose cone, I just had to re surface my top again around the lights and all the way along the front and was hoping to put a UV strip over it to protect it better or find a front nose cone protector any input appreciated .
I use 303 marine polish to keep it protected but Florida sun eats top coat
The paint on the front cap of our Beacon still looks decent after 4 years in the Colorado sun, the decals on the front and rear caps, not so much LOL.
For a painted cap I’d try a ceramic style coating that you could apply like a wax/sealant since those are terribly expensive if you DIY. Another option would be PPF (paint protection film) like what is used on car hoods and side view mirrors to protect against rock chips.
Yes I think I’m going to look for a ppf film as I’ve redone the top coat again this week. And applied the 303 for UV protection whilst I find the ppf film. Think it’s the Florida and the Arizona which did it on the Vanleigh.
I have researched a custom nose cone for storage for 500$ which may be the way to go also.
Pretty much full on getting it prepped for a Texas trip so I’m sure more will come up lol
Another option I looked at a few years ago was BuggBanner. Similar to a car bra that is attached to the front cap to help protect against the bug splats. Doesn’t look like they’re around anymore, maybe Camping World purchased them as I saw a similar item there but at a higher price.

Seems to be holding my paint job in 100 degree Texas heat will retouch during the winter I used the below may be a bit too shinny but with the 303 Polish looks good
Hi there I’m revisting this as the nose cone brown has peeled in the right side front around 3 inch patch down to the yellow undercoat.
My questions are
The color chart should be on the door jam on the hinge side.
I would contact TIshomingo RV to get the color of the nose paint if its not on the inside door jam as Eric stated. Beacons have a door sticker but since the Tiffin Paint plant wasnt involved in the Vilanos I am not sure it will exist. Tishomingo was responsible for painting all of the caps after January of 2018 and still repaint caps today when owners need things addressed.

this will be the 2nd time due to the UV taking off the top coast each time I’m going to invest in better paint rather than the auto store quality

Congrats on breaking out the rig! Love this time of year. Unless somebody here pops up with the paint code I think your best bet is to call or email Tishomingo RV next week. Danny’s team painted all of the Vilano and Pinecrest caps for Vanleigh production up until the last like 6 months of them being produced.

I dug into this and looks like the original paint for the Vanleigh Vilano / Pinecrest came from Belgreen Coatings (thank you Danny at Tish for that answer). Sounds like they later switched to Industrial for the final two running years in which Pinecrest were no longer produced.
Larry at Belgreen said Vanleigh called the color on the unit “Templer Brown” for the Pinecrests with the brown caps. The earlier Pinecrests were black. I inquired about that paint color he stated he only supplied a small amount of paint for the black ones since they were a short run and didnt have the code info for the Metallic Black.
The paint is a Lusid Paint so can be mixed anywhere Lusid is sold. Belgreen will sell it to you but since they are mainly industrial (now contracted with Tiffin for their production) they wont take electronic payments from a consumer and only accept a check and current price per gallon is $135.86. Belgreen is located in Russelville AL.
With all that stated you should be able to go to any shop selling Lusid paint and have them mix up the Templer Brown using the code: BC3B832248. https://www.lusidtechnologies.com/
As far as the graphics - Tiffin on last check still was selling the VL badge that is center of your cap although I understand they were limited quantities. As of this morning Danny stated he can still get the badge. Any vinyl shop can recreate those graphics of course at a cost of design. If you wanted to be true to the original the font for the “Vaneligh” under the Pinecrest and the “A Division of Tiffin” are easily reproduced with that font - I have recreated the logos for the Beacons and those files are in the files section. The same font could be used for those portions.
