Has anyone installed this on their RV? I’m looking at MORRyde brand and it seems like I may not have clearance. Thought I’d ask here. Thanks.
My wife likes those hand rails and wanted to get them for our Beacon. With ours the awning arm is right next to the door and looks like it would interfere with the rail mounting plate.
Have you gone through the qualifier to determine if it’ll fit on your unit?
I was reading through the qualifier and it appears my only problem would be the secondary bracket at the top. I just wasn’t sure if I could get away with not using since the larger piece appears to have multiple screws that attach it to the wall.
That might work. My concern would be that those screws might just get screwed into the fiberglass and not be screwed into a piece of metal backing behind the fiberglass. Similar to how they attach the awning arms to the sides of the trailer. I’d prefer to have as many attachment points (screws) as possible on this type of accessory.
If it’s just fiberglass, and knowing that the handrail could be subject to pulling forces, it could loosen up over time and pull right out of the fiberglass. I’ve seen that happen before and it leaves behind a bit of a mess to repair.
I might just be overthinking things too and it could all work fine. Just something to consider.
Very good point, I didn’t think about that. I think I will leave well enough alone. Appreciate your input.
Here is our solution to stairs and a handrail. Amazingly it fits in the storage area going through the drivers side basement door. Only cost about $700.
Wow, that’s a fancy set of steps! Pretty cool that you are able to store it in the front passthrough compartment.
Curious what you do if you need to access the inside while traveling, do you still have the original steps or use something else?
We install the original stairs for short stays or traveling and use the platform for longer stays. The platform, stairs, and handrail come apart and the legs of the platform are individually adjustable - process is to get original stairs out of storage compartment, take platform apart, collapse the legs of the platform, fit upside down into storage compartment, stairs fit inside the platform and handrail goes in truck bed. Install original stairs in RV doorway.
Before retirement, our typical stay in the RV was months to years in one spot for work so the added safety of the platform, stairs and handrail made sense (and the dog really liked the added room outside the doorway).
