Concerning sealant types

So, we recently installed a new refrigerator in our 42 rdb. In order to get that thing into the unit, we removed the window in the dining area. We’ve now reinstalled the window and I’m wondering what type of sealant is used. The sealant we removed looked like clear silicone; however, I thought I’d check here before resealing. TIA for your help.

I personally used RV PRO Flex, Silkaflex or Lexel. They adhere strongly to RV materials, remain flexible, are UV-resistant, and can be painted or resealed later - unlike silicone, which peels, attracts dirt, and can’t be properly reapplied without stripping the original product as silicone doesnt stick to itself. Silicone breaks down and flakes over time.

I just redid all of the roof and side seals of a unit where they tried to patch up with silicone. Kinda a mess.

Hello CKOne, I installed three Slide out toppers and one window using this to seal the surface of the RV. I believe this is the right choice it’s pliable remains flexible over time and is very adhesive to most anything, and can be removed later if need with relative ease.

Butyl Sealant Tape 1/8’‘×3/4’’ ×30’, 1 Rolls Butyl Rubber Sealant. This can be purchased on Amazon. They have two colors Black and white depending on the color of your RV. This stuff is great.

Good Luck with window replacement.

Thank you. I’ll probably pick up a tube of sikaflex since I’m familiar with the product line.
