Hi there I have x2 Coleman mac units one is blowing 50c the one in the rear lounge 65 Im guessing needs a clean I’ve Cleaned the rear from the ladder and will assume i will have to take the cover off for the inside coil of the unit any suggestions I’ve also cleaned all the temp probes in the 5th wheel
Best bet is to clean the unit from the roof so you’re able to clean out the coils and remove any accumulated dirt and debris.
Changing Lanes has a good article & video on that process.
Thanks Stuart hope all is well
Quick update the Coleman in tje bedroom is working and cooling very well.
The lounge until Im getting 67 degrees coming out which is an improvement,
my bedroom unit appears to have 2 stages of cooling and I hear it make a boom to cool at a higher level. The lounge one has never done this ? Any ideas
The AC fan speeds can be set to low, high or auto. When on auto if the cool to temp is more than 4° I think that turns the fan speed to high, once the temp gap drops below that 4° difference the fan speed will drop to low and when the set temp is reached the fan turns off. When using either the high or low fan speeds options the fan speed will not change and will continue to run even when the reaching the temp set.
You shouldn’t be hearing any booms IMO. A loud noise like that could indicate a problem, possibly with the fan motor. Can you try switching between the fan modes on the AC in question to see if hear the same loud noise?
Thanks Stuart I will take a second look my control thermostat is a basic one also
Hi Stuart Im running both ac and the bedroom one sounds like it has 2 speeds of cooling and runs very well.'the problem one is the lounge which Im getting 68 degrees coming out of the vents and around 82 degrees outside. The lounge one doesn’t appear to have as much power or that higher speed of cooling.
I’ve also cleaned the thermostat and the sensors with an air blower any ideas could it be a failing capacitor?
Hey Tourusa - I’m not really familiar with that thermostat but to looks like a multi zone t-stat so it should control both AC units ( like front and rear zones or whatever location they’re in).
This website https://thecampingadvisor.com/how-do-you-use-an-rvcomfort-zc-thermostat/ has some info on the usage and troubleshooting. I downloaded the manual and saw some info that might help in the setup and functionality of each zone.
Thanks I’ll take a look see if there is a reset
