Beacon Vinyl Tiles

It’s tile replacement day and I have mixed feelings about the tiles in a Beacon. It’s great when there is a damaged area and pulling / replacing a single tile is easy vs lino repair. What I don’t like about the tiles is the color on the material is extremely thin so they become scratched easily. The material they switched to after discontinuing the tiles conceals scratches much better as the color is down into the material. When these dark tiles get a scratch it immediately shows the white material below.

We use slide sleds on our dinette slide to help protect tiles in travel and those have been a lifesaver. Prior damage tiles were more often.

Tiles today were damaged at a service center and I am glad to have some spares on hand.

Hey Ryan- I agree with the ease of replacement with tiles compared to a sheet vinyl.

When we picked our Beacon up at the dealer they had managed to gouge a couple of the tiles up pretty badly. Vanleigh sent out some replacements, but they were the wrong color they then shipped out the correct color. I still have a number of those on hand for replacing damaged tiles.

Hard to tell if your tile color matches ours as it might look a bit darker, but not as dark as the wrong ones that were sent out as replacements.

We use some old wallboard (courtesy of Tishomingo) to use as protection for the dinette slide. I do keep the damaged tiles to be able to reuse the undamaged section in areas that don’t require a full tile (around the walls or furniture).

The light color does seem to help hide scratches a bit better.

Top tile is the ones we have in our unit. The darker tile is what Vanleigh sent originally before they sent the correct color.

I don’t think mine are as dark as your darker ones.

Danny gave me some of that board and in addition he attempted some creativity with some felt under the slide as well. For a short period we had a rug we would lay in front of the dinette slide and later transitioned to slide slickers that I altered. Used those for over two years and then finally switched up to the AP products sled which I wanted initially but some stock issues were happening in that 2021 time frame.

I have swapped 23 tiles in the time we have owned this some caused by our negative camber, some due to how the slide rides in but most were collateral damage in service. At lease I got something fixed in trade.

This is how we normally travel. Thought it would be a pain when we move weekly but just part of the process.

That’s quite a number of tiles you’ve had to replace! I’ve only had to do about 3 or 4. Of course we’re not using it as much as you guys are.

In the pic, are those the slide slickers or the sled you mentioned? Those seem like they’d be easier to use than taping down the wallboard I have now.

Thanks!

The pic is with Lippert slide slickers - they are intended for carpeted floors not vinyl. They have a thin strip of foam down each side similar to a piece of weatherstripping and come with plastic teeth on about 8” to keep them stuck on the carpet when the slide goes in. I added more foam and since I didn’t have carpet I filed everything to make them flat and like I said has worked great for two years.

The ones I originally wanted and now have transitioned to are AP Slide Sleds. Since they were not available at that time I improvised. Slide slickers have worked great for me and only swapped them out as I was ready to replace the foam. The only thing about the AP product is the foam is thick but has been excellent.

Thanks for the info, it’s very helpful! I’m leaning towards the AP sled since you you’ve had a great experience with them, plus they’re quite a bit less than the Lippert style slicker. Will probably need four to cover the dinette slide completely, like you have in the picture.

Hello out there we are new/used 34RLB owners and looking for a source for the Vinyl planks on the foor of our Beacon. Anyone have any luck finding a non-Tiffin source for the vinyl tile planks?

Thank you in adavnce for any help.

Regards.

I had found the type of tile at one of my service center visits in Redbay and thought I would chase them down online. I found one place but they didnt carry them anymore. I later asked Tiffin on a subsequent visit and they gave me a box.

Tiles are a bit different depending on the model year as mentioned earlier I think Stuart might have a bit different tile than me. If you call Tiffin with your VIN they can hook you up with the correct tiles.

This is the box of tiles that I have and lacking on description or manufacturer.

I have that same box when Vanleigh shipped me some replacements. Only mine was covered in tape an couldn’t make out the text. Only difference is the style, mine is named “Sand Castle” which might account for the slightly different color.

I couldn’t find any manufacturer info either and Coastal Accents didn’t turn up anything relevant either.

Tiffin might be the best resource for securing additional tiles.

Hey Guys,

Thank you for the information and yes I reached out Tiffin Customer support and they had some of the tiles and they are on thier way our place. they shipped them out same day. Very freindly and helpful over the phone.

Thansk again for the inforamtion.

Rob
