Has anyone here installed the 3rd ac themself? I have procured a diagram on where to cut the roof. I am wondering if the control box is already there or if the romex and t stat wires are the only things there. If you have cut the roof and have photos etc please share.
Hi Shawn - Our 39FBB came with all three AC units. I did just recently replace the rear and the mid AC units as both had failed compressors. The new AC units did not come with the control box so I reused the ones already in place. I’m not sure if Vanleigh would’ve included the control box and wiring to connect into the Spyder system.
Here’s some photos of what the roof opening looks like in case that might be useful for you. The roof was real dirty but I did a thorough cleaning later lol.
The wiring to the control box below has 6 wires with spade connectors coming out of some wire loom from the roof for the Spyder/T-stat connections, the wiring in the green mesh and molex plug come from the AC unit, and the romex power is on right side, the lone white wire on the far right is for the freeze sensor.
Thanks for the photos Stewart. I’ve replaced my rear AC and it looked very much like the photos that you posted. The new AC did not come with the control box. I had to reuse the old one that’s why I was wondering if the control box was already there with the prep.
Hey Shawn - The control box is not up there - you are on track with your thinking of the prep including the wiring for power and t stat. I added the mid AC on my unit but since we are full time and I was without tools so I used Tishomingo as they were also replacing our roof. I have pics / video on one of my drives and can attempt to dig up. I also believe Jason Bryan on FB documented it well (if I recall correctly). I remember commending him on the bravery of his cut.
